The arm rest.
So as number three was drawing near we were faced with the dilemma of car seats. We have what is considered a small car, a Toyota Corolla, I think. Anyways, some people said it couldn’t be done, that we would have to buy a new car, something a little more family friendly but I resisted determined that they would fit and eventually we found the perfect combination of seats to fit our kids and the car. It was made a little more difficult by the fact that Squirm is so light that their is only one seat on the market that she can use. And this particular car seat has arm rests. Never in my childhood did we ever have booster seats with arm rests. And do you know why? Because our parents were smarter than us. (My mother is about to copy this down and make it her screen saver). They knew that an arm rest is just something else to fight over.
They had seen us in cinemas rushing to put our arms on the arm rests first thus claiming them for the entire film. As we got older we just did it more subtly but still we claimed them because if you do it the fair way of one arm rest each then everybody is uncomfortable. So now it has started, with only one child with arm rests on her chair the fight is always on as soon as they get in the car to claim the arm rest. So if you are looking for new car seats, beware follow the all or none rule.
