I know, the hunger/feeding thing is the strangers solution to everything - it's laughable! I hate it when they say "Oh, you poor thing" to baby, as though I'm depriving her of what she needs. Took me 6 weeks to go back and then when I did pluck up the courage to go back I ended up carrying him around half the time and pushing the trolley with one hand. The most annoying thing though was checkout ladies who would say, "Is he hungry?" and I, in the sleep-deprived maelstrom of those early weeks, felt like saying "By golly, that's it! I'd forgotten about that whole feeding thing. Lucky you're here to figure out why my baby's crying and I've got a news flash for you, they DO actually cry for reasons OTHER than hunger AND I AM NOT A BAD MOTHER!!" I'm sure the poor women were just making conversation. He loves shopping now. I think it's all the attention he gets.
