Just sitting.
As a child I remember Mum driving us home from somewhere, the shops or one of our numerous sporting activities, she would drive into the driveway, turn off the engine and just sit there. It seemed to us as children that sometimes she would sit there, in the car, for up to an hour, although it was probably more like ten minutes. As we got older we would just let ourselves out of the car, take her keys and go and amuse ourselves inside. We really were fairly responsible children so we never got into any mischief.
I never really understood why she sat there. There was plenty of fun to be had inside; she could be playing with us, making us food, watching TV with us, dancing around the room with us, making us cubbys of blankets. There was heaps to do and yet she sat outside in the boring car with the sun streaming through the window in silence and solitude. I didn’t understand. Now I do.

Yes, sometimes mums needs silence and solitude especially when being busy all day at work, and then having to run from Netball practice to Rebound Netball, Swimming, etc. etc. but Chelle I know I didn’t stay in the car when you were young; I can recall doing it sometimes when you were in your mid-late teens… and yes you were at a responsible age … but maybe I am mistaken about the ‘responsible’ bit, after all, there aren’t many teenagers that still make cubbys out of blankets and dance around the room at that age!! Love you anyway!!!
