Imagination explosion

May 14, 2009

Husband and I both like to consider ourselves creative and so we were naturally excited for the time when Wrigglebot’s imagination would be unleashed and it has finally happened. He stands on the arm of the chair surfing and then a wave comes and knocks him over and then he needs to take his surfboard and his ‘wet soup’ in his car to the beach house. Then he decides his cricket bat is a guitar and he needs to take it in his racing car to church where he can play it, with Dave on drums, Tim on piano and Mummy singing. The Mummy singing bit still puzzles me. Then he uses his rake in his sand pit to try and dig up dinosaur bones before finding an abandoned road on the bottom (here he may be influenced by excessive Time Team viewing).

So cute, you say, and yet it all has one massive drawback. He has discovered killer dinosaurs and monsters in nightmares. He was waking up terrified and refusing to go back to sleep at two o’clock in the morning. Having gotten used to full nights of sleep I was devastated but it only seemed to last a week and now he sleeps with his own stuffed pet dinosaur, a sword and a cricket bat. It may be uncomfortably crowded in his bed but those monsters stand no chance now.
