Guilt Trip
I have come to understand that guilt is a recurring emotion us mothers experience, no matter how wonderful we are or how hard we try.
In just one week I felt guilt at least 10 times. This horrible feeling came over me when…
-I went out on a girls night and left Milla at home (with her dad, I should add).
-I had my last breastfeed as my bits just don’t want to work anymore.
-I tried to get Milla to sleep and wondered why she wouldn’t stop crying and then I realised I’d forgotten to feed her.
-I cut her little nails and made her tiny, pudgy finger bleed.
-I went to work on Tuesday and only thought of her 4 times during the day.
-I didn’t realise another tooth had broken through and I couldn’t record the exact date in her journal.
-I forgot to turn on the monitor in our bedroom and left her to cry in the morning for what must have been 10 minutes before I woke from my delicious slumber.
-I discovered she had nappy rash.
-I forgot to put socks on her feet when we went shopping which turned her toes a deep shade of purple and;
-when I realised that I shouldn’t have so many things to feel guilty about!
