Commando Kid.

June 25, 2009

A sneaky commando crawler is now in the house and it doesn’t seem to matter how well I tidy, or how high I put things out of reach, Milla will still find all the things she is not supposed to have.
It was difficult when she rolled so efficiently but now the challenge is even greater, as she can get from one place to the next in a matter of seconds.
I’m not sure how babies know what items in a household you should and shouldn’t play with either, but somehow the things that are forbidden are so much more appealing. How do they know that at such a young age?
I have tried to fool my mischievous baby by placing things that she is permitted to play with in various places – making her think that it’s something she can’t have (a bit of reverse psychology). But it’s as though she has an internal scanning device that tells her to give the baby-safe things a quick lick and move on. The internal scanning device then picks up the not-so-safe items and she will happily lick away for ever – or until I intervene that is.
And, what’s with tantrums when one does not get what they want at 9 months of age I must ask? I have heard of terrible two’s, I have witnessed hysteria in the shopping centre (from mother and child), but a baby?
I guess I should be glad that she’s not yet walking, or climbing for that matter, as I am sure this confrontation will continue and worsen in years to come.
