A Sleeping Wrigglebot.
Here in Melbourne we have been experiencing a heat wave and in an effort to be extra tough and conserve energy we don’t have an air conditioner. We don’t die, we manage quite well by pulling down blinds and closing windows, a swimming pool also helps us keep cool. I said all this to get to the point that the kids have been taking longer and longer to fall asleep, probably due to the heat. Often they have been in their room for an hour and a half and I can still here them playing away. We have also had a string of people over in the evenings, I think we had people over every day for a week at least, so Wrigglebot creeps to his door and lies there peeping through the little gap and listening.
This brings us to Sunday night, it had been warm so the kids room was warmish and they played as usual when they were supposed to be going to sleep, around eight though the noise stopped so I assumed they were all cosy in bed as usual. I went to check on them at about eleven. I went to push open the door, it wouldn’t open. I assumed Wrigglebot had stacked things behind the door so I pushed a little harder, it still wouldn’t open. I then called Husband to get the torch and we peered through the little gap I had created and saw a little arm. Wrigglebot had fallen asleep behind the door and I had been pushing it against his head and still he slept. We yelled at him, still he slept. We prodded at his arm, still he slept. Eventually I managed to get my hand in enough to push him over and still he slept. He slept while I pushed the door open a little more and he slept while I put him into bed. Being the lightest of sleepers myself, I must admit to sleep envy of Wrigglebot, the boy who can sleep anywhere and through anything.
