Apologies to the second child.

September 26, 2008

I have suddenly realised that I don’t write much about Squirm, I don’t take many photos of her, I don’t even think that I talk about her all that much. It isn’t that I don’t love her as much as Wrigglebot, I think perhaps it is just that what she does is not as noteworthy. Wrigglebot decided last night that he wanted to copy us and eat a burrito properly, Squirm just wriggled on her belly and drooled. Not quite as interesting you must admit.

So here is what Squirm is up to; she commando crawls extremely quickly getting extremely dirty. She chatters and laughs a lot, is quick to smile and seems to be forever drooling. She needs the company of other people to be happy and is always active (and I mean always, the only time she is still is when she is sleeping and then she does not move at all)

And so I wonder, why do I not find what she does as noteworthy as when Wrigglebot did it? And then I have my answer, Wrigglebot has already done it. When he did these things I thought he was terribly advanced and now with Squirm I just realise that these are things that babies do as they grow. I am going to make an effort though, to be more amazed, to be more excited, to capture more moments and so hopefully to avoid inflicting the middle child syndrome onto yet another generation.

  1. Well, I kind of missed out on the Wrigglebot when he was younger, so Squirm never ceases to amaze me. She is such a bright, active, beautiful girl! I reckon she might be a handful when she starts to walk and talk, she has such a developed personality already.
Anyway, nice post. Keep them coming.

  2. ‘Chelle, don’t beat yourself up over this; after all you have Wrigglebot to contend with as well as Squirm which means you haven’t the time to concentrate on only one child! ‘Firsts’ are always special, however Ford is a ‘first’ son and Winsome is a ‘first’ daughter – oops, seconds are equally as special – just realised you are a ‘second’ daughter!!
    Luv ya!
