Super sonic hearing.
October 26, 2007
Since becoming a mother my hearing has improved ten fold. Not only do I wake up at night from the slightest whimper from Wrigglebot but I also can detect what he is up to in another room simply from noise. I know the noise of his drink bottle on the tiles, of hands on windows, of chairs being pushed and balls being kicked. I know the noise of laughter, of frustration, of tiredness, of play and of pain. To the untrained ear many of these noises sound the same and need the verification of eyesight, not for a mother however.
It isn’t a very exciting superpower, that of hearing, but I guess it is better than nothing, although sometimes around 5.30 in the morning I wish I could turn it off.
